Writer unveils book on Rotimi Amaechi

ADA DIKE

In a book titled: “Rotimi Amaechi and the 7 O’clock News”, former Governor of Rivers Sate, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, has been described as a true model of an ideal politician.
The 36-page book presented to the governor on his birthday on May 27, 2015, is a fictitious narrative on the political career of the former Rivers Sate Governor. The main idea of the book is to teach school children in Rivers State and Nigeria at large, while not intending to drag them to politics, that it is not all about violence, not a do or die game , not about bloodshed , ballot box stealing but politics that finds solution to the common good of the citizens.

How Ndigbo underdeveloped Igboland

By Douglas Anele
In our discussion last Sunday, I made the point, which was almost distorted by editorial pusillanimity, that ideally, in order to render justice to Ndigbo Nigerian leaders who participated in genocide against them during the civil war should be prosecuted at the International Court of Justice. But I also argued that given the very low level of political maturity and moral consciousness in the country presently, that would never happen.
Igbo-men Now, the major motivation for the two-part series entitled “Ndigbo and the burden of history” is to draw attention to how members of the ruling elite dominated by Northerners had, especially from 1966 to 1999, contributed to the underdevelopment of Igboland.

Sarno has previously accused him of raping his cattle, as well as other animals, on several occasions.
Police believe Loyola was under the influence of drugs during his latest assault as they obtained various drug paraphernalia when they arrested him on Tuesday, March 10, 2015.
The farmer also claimed that Loyola impregnated the cow during the assault since that particular cow had not yet mated with a bull.
Authorities plan to test the animal to uncover the origin of the the pregnancy.

Press Statement by Chief Femi Fani-Kayode on the Occasion of his Victory at the Federal High Court on 1st July 2015

Ladies and gentlemen, I am delighted, humbled and relieved by this verdict. In the last seven years, I have been subjected to the most malicious, vicious, sinister, well-orchestrated, insidious and devastating form of political persecution and wickedness.
The whole process almost destroyed my life, my family, my reputation, my health and my career. I thank God for his goodness, his mercy and for the fact that today, the whole nightmare has finally come to an end.
Initially, I was accused of stealing N19.5bn of public funds when I was Minister of Aviation. It was thrown out by the courts. Then I was accused of stealing N6.5bn. It was thrown out by the courts. Then I was accused of laundering N200m. It was thrown out by the courts.
Then I was accused of laundering N99m. It was thrown out by the courts. Finally, I was accused of laundering N1m and N1.1m respectively, and today, both of these charges have also been thrown out by the courts.

Lagos Auto Spare Market, Ladipo demolished Igbos cried out

Officials of the Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State have commenced a demolition exercise at the Ladipo Auto Spare Parts Market at Mushin.
During the demolition exercise, the traders were reportedly barred from entering the market to remove their goods from the shops
Traders said that they met “hoodlums” vandalising the market with bulldozers escorted by policemen and SARS operatives.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the market, Kanayo Okonkwo, said there was no notice to prepare the traders beforehand, adding, “as it stands, we are in raining season. If it rains, it will spoil all our goods. That would take us back to square one.
“They didn’t tell us anything. I don’t know where they want us to go. We don’t have other shops. Assuming they gave us some kind of notice, we would know what to do, we came today to sell but found a lock on the gate.”
He added: “We want to know why they vandalised a section of the market.
“If they have any issue within themselves, let them sort it out. We came here to look for daily bread, not to disturb anybody. If they really planned to develop the market, they should have at least informed us. The governor of Lagos State should come to our aid. If they want us to leave, we will do that. But they should do what is right,” he said.
In front of the market gate was a banner with the inscription: Proposed Commercial Development of Mushin, Lagos. It was also written on the banner that Mushin Local Government in conjunction with a developer known as Total Value Integrated Services Limited is to commence building of a modern plaza market in place of the present stalls being demolished.
