40-year-old proprietor rapes 11-year-old pupil

  • The Ekiti State Police command yesterday, arrested a primary school proprietor for allegedly having forceful carnal knowledge of one of his pupils.

The incident occurred on Monday in Ado-Ekiti at an isolated area called Palm-groove Street.

The suspect, who owns a nursery and primary school along Kojola Area of Ado-Ekiti, was said to have cleverly lured the teenage girl into an uncompleted building wher...e he defiled her.

Luck, however, ran out of the man as passers-by, who caught him red-handed, immediately raised an alarm which attracted scores of people who attempted to mob him.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state Police Command, Mr. Victor Babayemi, confirmed the development to NAN on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti.

He said, although his men had arrested the suspect, investigations were still on-going to ascertain the genuine nature or otherwise of the crime.

He said as part of the investigations, a medical test had been conducted on the teenage victim, and the result was still being awaited because the suspect had continuously denied committing the crime.

The police image-maker expressed concern over growing cases of rape in recent times in the state, vowing that the command would not leave any stone unturned in un-masking all those behind the such acts.
