‘SELMA’, movie on Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.’s non-violence campaign premiered in Lagos

On Sunday, February 8, 2015, at 5:00p.m., the United States Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria and the House on the Rock (Church) premiered a movie.
Titled ‘SELMA’, the movie which mirrors the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.’s non-violence campaign as a means to achieving equal voting rights and equal justice for black people in the late 1950s and 60s was premiered at the Rock Cathedral, Lagos.
In the movie, British-Nigerian David Oyelowo who was at the premiere played Reverend King Jr..
The movie premiere, according to its organisers was timely and amplifies the power of the ballot box as Nigeria prepares to vote from March 28.
