Day art lovers celebrated Professor Adelugba’s posthumous birthday

It was a memorable day on March 9, 2015, when students, ex- students and colleagues from Creative Arts, and English Department, University of Lagos (Unilag) gathered for the celebration of Professor Dapo Adelugba’s 76th birthday posthumous seminar,.
Held in the Afe Babalola Hall, University of Lagos under the auspices of The Dapo Adelugba Group, and the UI Theatre Arts Alumni; the seminar theme was Dapo Adelugba: Reminiscences On A Distinguished Life, and featured presentations and tributes by many of his former students and colleagues including Profs Duro Oni, Akachi Ezeigbo, Sunnie Ododo, Dr. Esohe Suinner, Sola Fosudo, Odia Ofeimun, Ben Tomoloju, Longley Evru, Tade Adekunle, Teju Kareem and Tunji Sotimirin, among others.
The Adelugba family was represented by Chief and Mrs. Kufo, Mr. and Mrs. Segun Adelugba, Dr. and Mrs. Bolarinwa. Teniayo, Prof Adelugba's daughter, sent in a message from London. Chair of the Adelugba Group and, Theatre Alumni, Prof. Oni seized the opportunity to announce the annual Dapo Adelugba Theatre Arts Lecture Series which takes off on March 9 2016.
Adelugba died at the age of 75 on November 23, 2014. He was a great theatre teacher and practitioner.
It will hold at Afe Babalola Auditorium, University of Lagos, from 11 am to 2 pm.
He took part in a lot of productions including Wole Soyinka’s Swamp Dwellers, where he acted as the Blindman.
Adelugba was president of University College, Ibadan Dramatic Society, where he adapted Moliere’s ‘Les Fourberies de Scapin’ (The Trickeries of Scapin) to ‘That Scoundrel Suberu’.
