soulful single, titled “Love Don’t
Care”

In this track, which is mixed and mastered by Simi
with a display of rhythmic feel of the Guitar by Fiokee and produced by Oscar,
Simi displays her love for simple soul music. Simi the impeccable music
storyteller uses this song to argue that love is indeed beyond tribe, money,
societal status, race or belief, teaching people the true meaning of Valentine and
ascertaining that Love can’t be stopped from expressing its true essence. Love
doesn’t care about anything but Love.

2011, which immediately became a hit. Simi who warmed her way
into the hearts of Nigerians with the release of her songs, “Ara-Ile” “Tiff”
and “Jamb Question”. She recently released a dance video ‘Open and Close’ a
polish blend of Pop and Fuji music. Her song “Jamb Question” got an amazing
review from prominent Nigerian filmmaker and entertainment critic, Charles
Novia. She was recently made the YNaija/Y! Africa Magazine New Establishment
List 2016 bagged three nominations at the just concluded Headies Awards and won
The Most Promising Act at the NEA and City People Awards 2015. Her outstanding
talent together with her mastery of music and sound has made her songs some of
the most aired songs on Nigerian airwaves.
Born Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye, a.k.a Simi is a
Mass Communications Graduate. She wrote her very first tune at the age of 10
and started out singing and dancing in her early teens as a member of the
teenage church choir. Eventually, she went on to launch her debut album in
2008, which was produced by Samklef. The album spawned hits such as Ara Ile,
Ogaju, Iya Temi, to name a few.
Simi is signed to X3M Music, the Lagos-based
record label that is home to Nigerian R&B sensation; Praiz,
recording artist and song writer; Sammy, Recording & Performing rap
artiste; D-Truce.
Simi’s genre of music is Afro-pop, although she also
dabbles in pop and soul. Her two singles, ‘Tiff’ and ‘E No Go
Funny’ off her upcoming sophomore album, dropped on June 9, 2014.
Tiff video dropped on Saturday, August 30, 2014. Her single “Jamb Question”
which was released February 2015 has been widely accepted both on the local and
foreign scene. She won the Best Promising Act at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment
Award and the Most Promising Act of the Year at the 2015 City People award. She
had two nominations at the 2015 Headies for Best Alternative Song and Video of
the Year (Jamb Question) and two at the Nigerian Music Video Award for Best
Soft Rock/Alternative video (Jamb Question). Her most recent single “Open and
Close” released on November 17, 2015 met with amazing critical reviews and
massive airplay.
Simi is not just talented, but relentless as she is
still writing and recording more songs to delight her army of followers on
social media and fans of her music.
