With two exceptional event management packages; full event management package and event advisory, Newton & David continues to make bold statements with their event from small intimate dinner parties to large corporate function.
“While the full event management package is almost the ‘easy process’ which includes free initial consultation to discuss concept (theme, style, mood, feel of event), design and décor, the event advisory is quite the opposite; it involves initial consultation session and concept brainstorming session with a detailed event timeline brief, here client pays for the professional service offered but handles the management on their own. It is committed to offering impeccable services, using its wealth of experience and resources in the industry to make any Event truly spectacular and memorable. All Newton & David creations are distinct, elegant and always unforgettable.”

“One of the most exciting things we also do is building false walls for art exhibition. “Nigeria, being a member of Committee of Nations and standing tall, I am passionate about Nigeria that is why I promote its cultural heritage by decorating the stage with artworks from Nigerian artists, where necessary. I also use sculptures from Nigerian artists to decorate lounge.” Majekodunmi said.
The 53-year-old entrepreneur also added that Newton & David's creations are always about making bold and pre-agreed statements with each outing - from small intimate dinner parties to large corporate functions.
She shared the rudiments of managing events and said: “First thing we do is to take a brief and listen to what our client wants to say. You don’t just manage event but must make a statement through how you manage an event.
“In terms of technicalities, you have to take into cognizance the number of guests that will attend the event, does religion come into play? What colours will be suitable for the occasion? “
She showed a picture of a venue they built false walls and incorporated it into a design from the entrance of the venue.
Majekodunmi said colours are very exotic and include: strawberry, avocado and has to be selected according to the time of the event –gala, dinner or breakfast. “Props, setting and accessories must be put into cognisance. Choose the right fabrics and chandeliers. We put details to what ushers will and ensure that it blends with the decoration. It would be difficult for one person to handle an event. Flowers have to be clean and tidy and cutlery sets must be placed at the right place.”
She does not discriminate clientele but always welcomes everybody.
In terms of economic aspect of her business, she stressed that event management and decoration has kept Nigeria’s economy alive. “In fact, an event can positively touch about 1, 000 lives, including the carpenter, rug man and so on. All these people tax so it is boosting our country’s economic development.”
She attributed the success of her company to team work “because the business is beyond me as a person.”
She advised whoever wants to go into her type of business to be bold. “My late mother said “Do the best in whatever you do.”
