How Lagos stood still for Felabration 2015

Lagos, the centre of excellence, came alive because of the annual Felabration which kicked off on
Monday, October 12, 2015.

The annual event holding at the New Afrika Shrine, commenced with a set of scintillating performers who took the stage and thrilled audience with their performers. This year’s celebration paraded both Nigerian and international musicians including: Fela’s sons – Femi and Seun. Others are Isidore (Fela’s friend who changed Fela’s mindset and converted him to a pan-African that used his music to create change), a host of A list Nigerian musicians, Third World: An international reggae group and the Newen Afrobeat Band from Chile.

As usual, the carnivals and road shows also took place on major streets of Lagos.
The annual festival which will end on Sunday, October 18, 2015 has grown to a mega festival which attracts people from many parts of the world. No wonder it has been regarded as a means of bringing tourists to Nigeria and Lagos State, which is lead sponsors of the festival.
The brainchild of Late Afrobeat maestro’s daughter, Yeni Kuti, Felabration is a distinctive annual celebration of Afrobeat maestro, Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti. It provides
an opportunity for sober reflection on the life and time of the legend as well what his music stand for.
