Marwa declares interest to battle for governorship race in Adamawa

Former military administrator of Borno and Lagos states, General Muhammadu Buba Marwa (rtd) has declared his interest following the impeachment of Governor Murtala Nyako and resignation of his deputy, Bala James Ngillari, respectively.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Adamawa State, who made the declaration at the Conference Hall of Lelewal Motel in Yola took time to tell the delegates and party leaders of Adamawa Central Senatorial District his reasons for entering the race saying he wants to salvage state.
He said, “You are aware of the development in our state as the governor was impeached while his deputy had resigned and the speaker is acting governor necessitating the conduct of an election in the next three months as stipulated by the constitution.”
Meanwhile, a chieftain of the PDP in the state and a former gubernatorial aspirant, Dr. Umar Ardo has declared the aspiration of Marwa null and void, saying the party will never accept his aspiration as he remains a fugitive and prodigal son having defected to the APC before defecting back to the party recently.
He said the party’s constitution on people who defected out of the party and later come back to its fold was clear as any affected party member would have to wait for a year before contesting for any office or has to be given waiver.
