The 2013
edition of the 1000 Leaders Meeting promoted by White Water Limited, endorsed
by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR Lagos State hosted top
professionals from both the public and private sector that paraded seasoned PR
experts and well groomed and experienced leadership and management scholars,
held recently in Lagos was declared open by Barr. Joe Okonmah, Chairman, NIPR,
Lagos Chapter. In his opening remark, Barr Jide Ologun, immediate past Chairman,
NIPR, Lagos State in his presentation titled ‘Sharing the Experience’ he
admonished the participants to be focus in contributing towards nation building
which is the responsibility of all Nigerians as leaders while they live their
dreams.
Mrs. Comfort
Coleman, Chief Executive, Nekego Resources Limited who spoke on the theme of
the meeting “Transformational Leadership: The Principles and Practices,
stressed the need for the participants to stand to be counted as they are
serving no matter in what capacity and at what level, because that is the real
essence of a transformational leadership.
Mrs. Ifeanyi
Chukwuma, Managing Director, Performance Frontiers Limited in her excellent
contribution opined that for any leader to perform well such must first be
personally transformed in order to be effective for the good of the larger
society.
Mrs. Chinelo
Anyiam-Osigwe, Co-ordinator Reading for Development Initiative emphasized on
the liabilities of a transformational leader who is responsible to his or her
constituency. She told the audience that they should put to practice the good
things they see or hear from other climes for the benefit of the generality of
the global society which they are all a part.
Ms. Theresa
Torkwase Bul, Principal Consultant Topchoice International explained that there
can never be a sustainable leadership transformation if the leader no matter
the vibrancy of the vision of such is unhealthy. She strongly emphasized on the
importance of balance by living a healthy life. She spoke on the topic ‘Only the
Healthy Lead, Transforming Others’.
Dr. Basil
Ibeh, Director General, Dael International Institute Leadership, an erudite
scholar with a deep well of knowledge and wealth of academic experience who
served as the key note speaker took the participants through the elements and tenets
of a transformational leader compared to a transactional leader and their
influence on their organization and the country which they do business.
The
participants who came from all walks of life commended the organizers of the
event and encouraged NIPR to ensure that the programme is organized regularly
and taken beyond the borders of Lagos.
Barr. Okonmah
salute the courage of Whitewater Limited for her effort in sustaining the
programme in the last five years. He called on individuals and organizations,
who have the financial muscle to support the novel project. He stated, ‘The
project is a good cause, if well articulated and supported is capable of
bringing a remarkable attitudinal and leadership change, enhancing the growth
of the Nigerian Democracy.
