Artwatch Africa Ambassadors seek justice for owners of bombed music Studio in Ouagadougou * Artwatch Africa presents ‘RIGHT TO LIFE’ musical video in Lagos

Members of the ‘Artwatch Africa Ambassadors for Creative Expressions’ have condemned the attack on Studio Abazon of Burkinabe top rapper and revolutionary artiste, Serges Martin Bambara aka Smokey. The attack occurred in the morning hours of Thursday, September 17, 2015 in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.
This was revealed in a statement made available to Newswatch Times by the Chair, CORA-Arterial Network, Nigeria, Jahman Anikulapo. The attack, according to the statement, was reportedly carried out by members of the RSP, otherwise known as the ‘Presidential Guard,’ led by General Gilbert Diendere, the leader of the military junta that seized power in the country recently.
Newswatch Times learnt that Smokey is the leader of a popular socio-political movement called “BALAI CITOYEN” (The Citizens’ Broom), which led the revolt against the dictatorial actions of former President Blaise Compraore. The popular revolt forced Compraore to resign and flee the country on October 31, 2014. General Diendere was number two man to Compraore, and his leadership of the RSP had targeted Smokey and members of ‘The Citizens’ Broom,” whom they perceived as enemies of the ousted Compraore.
“Studio Abazon, according to rights activists in Ouga, was rocket-bombed by members of the RSP. According to report, the well-equipped studio, which is the hub of young and aspiring musicians in Ouga, was damaged beyond repair, which confirm the suspicion that it was an orchestrated attack on the artiste, who in recent years has become the rallying voice for the politically decimated angry and idealistic young Burkinabe,” it explained

Policies, economists’ recommendations ruining Nigeria’s economy -Boyo

TAYO SALAMI
Renowned economist, Mr. Henry Boyo has agreed with Dr. Jimanze Ego-Alowes that economists are truly assassins despite the fact that he is also one.
Boyo made this admonition at the book presentation "Economists as Assassins: the Nigerian connection" authored by Ego-Alowes held in Lagos recently.
While allaying his fears on the damage economists have done to the nation, Boyo said, "The Nigeria economy has suffered as a result of the policies and recommendations of economists. It is impossible to believe that the government borrows back its own money and we live in a country where inflation continues to abide, in spite of resources and facilities or infrastructure we should counter for development. The reason this book is a success is because journalists are not well conversant with what the economy should be. For example, they have celebrated failures in the past, they continue to tell Nigerians that it would make sense for government to borrow money. They also continue to tell Nigerians that it is possible for naira to depreciate even when we had resources. They continue to tell us that it is possible to remove fuel subsidy without improving the value of the exchange rate and they say this with all conviction. Unfortunately, they are lying and that summarizes the veracity of what Jimanze has said in the book."

CBN SAYS NIGERIA ECONOMY MAY SLIP INTO RECESSION

."The committee noted that liquidity withdrawals following the implementation of the treasury single account, elongation of the tenure of state governments’ loans as well as loans to the oil and gas sectors could aggravate liquidity conditions in banks and impair their financial intermediation role, thus affecting economic growth, unless some actions were immediately taken to ease liquidity conditions in the markets,”

Themed: “A Decade of Impact...
