MD, PRM Africa and Executive Producer, AFRIMA , Mike Dada |
Irish singer, songwriter, musician, venture capitalist, businessman, philanthropist and frontman of Dublin-based rock band U2,
Paul David “Bono” Hewson has shown appreciation and support for the
All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, an effort that recognises, awards and
preserves Africa`s rich music culture organised in partnership with the
Africa Union Commission, AUC. In a meeting with the President and
Executive Producer of AFRIMA, Mike Dada in Lagos recently, Bono said
“AFRIMA has a tune that will resonate around the world, it is an
excellent initiative”. This is another affirmation that AFRIMA is indeed
an awards platform that is reckoned with not only continentally but
globally. Bono is also the co-founder of ONE Campaign International. ONE
Africa is a partner of AFRIMA and is reputed for social change advocacy
across the world.
AFRIMA main awards ceremony
holds in Nigeria on Sunday, November 15; this will be preceded by the
Africa Music Summit on November 13, themed “Reviving the Business of
Music in Africa”. There will also be the AFRIMA Music Village, November
13-14, an open, festival-style concert over a period of two days. AFRIMA
has shown that it is capable of promoting African culture and music to
the rest of the world. Words of appreciation and encouragement from such
renowned figure in the global music industry and the world`s richest
rock star further proves AFRIMA`s capability to create deep brand equity
for Africa. Bono has been involved in benefits concerts to raise aid
and awareness on the deplorable conditions of the poor in Africa.
