BUHARI SAYS APC GOVT WILL TACKLE BOKO HARAM WITHIN 2 MONTHS

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, assured Nigerians that Boko Haram insurgents will be chased out of Nigeria if the party takes over the reins of power at the centre.
General Buhari, who addressed an overflowing crowd of APC faithful at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, the Imo State capital, during the party’s presidential rally, said emphatically that the insurgency in some parts of the North East could not be quelled by the Peoples Democratic Party -led government because the government was corrupt and insincere.
He insisted that the country needed positive change and only the APC could bring the desired change to save the country from total collapse, adding that the major focus of the APC-led government would be to provide security of lives and property and create employment through the provision of adequate power supply.
His words: “ If you elect me as the president of Nigeria on February 14, 2015, I am assuring you that our government will chase Boko Haram out of Nigeria within two months because it is the responsibility of any reasonable government to secure the lives and property of its citizens.
“We are also going to solve the nagging problem of youth employment through the provision of adequate power, the creation of soft loan scheme to enable them start small scale businesses and of course, we will also ensure that we upgrade health and road infrastructures in order to improve the living standard of our people.”
He urged the people to obtain their permanent voters cards to enable them vote for the APC.
Also speaking, Governor Rochas Okorocha urged the people to discountenance the allegation that Buhari will Islamise Nigeria if he becomes the President of Nigeria, describing it as part of the propaganda of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to discredit him. He urged the people to vote for all the APC candidates in the February polls.
Okorocha said he did not need to campaign because his performance speaks for him and assured the people that the PDP cannot rig him out in the general elections, as that would be catastrophic for the state.
“ I am not here to campaign but for General Buhari because my performance speaks for me and I have had that the PDP would rig the election with Security but I know that they cannot because it would be catastrophic for the state. When am re- elected the state governor my main focus will be on industries and the creation of jobs for the people of the state”. He said.
Also speaking, the Director -General of the Buhari Presidential Organization and Governor of Rivers state, Chibuike Amaechi urged the people of Imo to vote out the Peoples Democratic Party in the February polls because the are fraudulent.

Ombatse killings: Jonathan has case to answer – APC presidential campaign
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign team has said that President Goodluck Jonathan has a case to answer over the killing of some policemen and officials of the Department of State Security (DSS) in Nasarawa State last May by members of the Ombatse cult.
In a statement issued yesterday by its Director, Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, the Presidential Campaign Council stated that President Jonathan was not serious about the welfare and safety needs of the nation’s security personnel, noting that he is prepared to trade their welfare and security needs for political gains.
The statement read in part: “The attitude of the Jonathan government to the cruel fate that befell more than 100 policemen and the operatives of the Directorate of the State Service (DSS), who lost their lives while on a mission to arrest the spiritual leader of the notorious Ombatse cult in Nasarawa State, last year, is yet the most glaring example of how callous and uncaring a government, which claims to be democratic can be.
“In serious countries, the government does not toy with the lives and well-being of its security men such that any act of violence visited on the personnel of the security establishment is tantamount to an assault on the nation as a whole. The action of the US and French authorities when terrorists attacked their Police personnel on duty is a case in point. These governments did not rest until the perpetrators were eliminated and investigation is still continuing to get to the root cause of the assault to prevent future occurrence.
In the case of the Ombatse killings of our security men, the administration of President Jonathan displayed incredible levity that shocked the nation and left a sour taste in the mouth of relations and families of the unfortunate slain security men.”
The campaign council urged President Jonathan to reflect on the way he handled the killing of the security personnel, pointing out that the call was premised on the fact that the President had been telling Nigerians during his ongoing political campaign that he cared about the nation’s security personnel.
The party added that “it is for reason of political exigency and to carry on with his “gentleman image’ who cannot hurt a fly that the President has failed continuously as a Commander-in-Chief, unable to mobilize the security forces and to provide them with the necessary leadership to accomplish their objective.”
