National Museum nominates Kano for inclusion In UNESCO World Heritage list






National Commission for Museum and Monuments has nominated the pyramid
ancient city of Kano to be included in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage list.
Director General of NCMM, Mallam Yusuf Abdallah made the disclosure when he led the management of the commission on a condolence visit to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammed Sanusi (11) over the bomb attack on the Kano Central mosque. As part of the process for the world heritage nomination exercise, Abdallah disclosed that two teams of experts have visited Kano for assessment of the Kano ancient city wall and gates, Gidan Rumfa complex, Kofar Mata Dye pit, Kurmi market and Dala ancient settlement, which are part of the property to be included in the Kano historic city.
According to him, his commission has selected five more sites in Kano for inclusion in the new list of additional national monuments in the country, adding that President Goodluck Jonathan will soon declare the sites as national monuments to further promote the heritage status of the ancient city of Kano.
