Asa |
Nigerian singer and
songwriter, Asa,
has dropped a new album.
Titled ‘Bed of Stones’, the album
was released a couple of days ago on Deluxe CD’s, Vinyl and Vendors worldwide.
It has been available for pre-order on iTunes.com since August 25, 2014.
Born Busola Elemide, the jailer
crooner revealed that the songs in the album came from her life experiences,
especially, the shock she felt coming off the road in 2012, after an incredibly
long tour.
“I needed time to pull myself
together. I toured for two years, gave everything I had every single night,”
says Asa.
She further said that: “I had been
the girl that was full of life, force and energy that people looked at for two
hours on stage, and then congratulated backstage after the show. But I was
going home alone, never really realizing how exhausting all that actually is.”
Having travelled to different places
such as Lagos, Berlin, the USA, London and Paris, she said she wanted to feel
human again, meet new people and do everything she always wanted to do before
she hit 30. “I wanted to learn to swim, rent a car and drive from Nashville to
New York and from New York to Los Angeles and I wanted to learn to skateboard
and drive a motorcycle.”
Asa will
soon be 32 years old; the artist was born in 1982 in Paris, France to her Nigerian parents. Her family returned to live
in Nigeria when she was two. Aṣa grew up in Alagbole, a border town
in Ogun State near Lagos, in the south-western part of Nigeria.
Since she
embraced music as her profession, she has released many hit singles including "Fire
in the Mountain” in 2009, “Jailer” in 2009 and "Be My Man" in 2010. She
has dropped four album namely: Asa (Asha) in 2007, Live in Paris in 2009,
Beautiful Imperfection in 2010 and the latest one, Bed of Stone in 2014.
