On Friday, September 12, 2014, in Lagos State,
co-sponsor of Elite Model Look Nigeria competition, Thermocool, presented gifts
to winners of the competition.
The winners, 16-year-old Ms.
Mayowa Nicholas and 18 –year-old
Mr. Victor Ndigwe, received
Thermocool freezers each from the company.
Speaking at the reception,
the Marketing Director, Thermocool, Mr. Vikramjeet Singh, said that they
supported the competition as part of 40th celebration of Thermocool,
and added that it was a means of communication to reward their Nigerian
consumers.
“We supported the
competition to tell our Nigerian consumers that we love them,” says Vikramjeet.
According to him, supporting
the competition was a way of developing Nigeria by helping Nigeria in
discovering new talents in modeling and fashion industry.
“It was a means for us to
communicate a new innovation by bringing succour to younger consumers,” he
added.
Explaining further, he
said that Thermocool has been participating in different project to empower
their consumers in a quiet way. “We now believe that with the fragmentation of
the media, it has become easier and necessary for us to communicate to our
consumers. So we have decided to make a conscious effort to communicate to our
consumers in different ways for them to connect and find out innovations we are
bringing to the industry.”
He pledged that the company
would continue to support events that will benefit their numerous consumers.
While receiving the
freezers, the winners expressed their profound appreciation to Thermocool and
pledged to take modeling further as they will represent Nigeria in China in December
for Elite World competition.
“I am so happy to receive
the gift and I want to thank Thermocool for their gesture,” says Miss Nicholas who hails from Lagos State and the first child of
three children.
The 300-level Accounting student of Crawford University, Mayowa, said she
attended the casting for the competition and was picked. “So we were taken to a
booth camp, where we were given some tasks to do including selling of some
products.”
Also speaking, Ndigwe, who hails from Adazi-Nnukwu
in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, said: “I
feel very happy to receive this beautiful gift from Thermocool. I have waited
for this moment for two years, so I worked hard to make sure that I won the
contest,” he said.
The 300-level
Pure and Applied Mathematics student of University of Benin also informed us that he heard about the competition
from his sister and applied.
The model, who said the
competition was interesting, hectic and challenging explained some of the tasks
they were asked to do in the house: “As a model, you have a particular routine.
You wake up every morning, do walk-out, watch what you eat and many other
things. Learning all those things was stressful but I thank God I came out
successfully.”
The Elite Model Look
Nigeria competition, which took place on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at the
Eko Hotel and suites in Lagos, was organized by Beth model management and
planned by Prive’ Luxury events to select the winners from among 20 finalists.
It was witnessed by people from all walks of life including fashion houses such
as Mimi Lee London, Okunoren Twins, AD by Agbani Darego and so on.
